This is our community. This is your zoo.
by Becoming a member
The zoo would love you to join our family. We have different plans to meet your needs. A membership allows access and discounts throughout the year!
There are many different things our volunteers can do to help the zoo. Some examples include: cleaning their exhibits, prepping food, helping with events and our media team.
The zoo always accepts different types of donations. Some examples include: monetary, supplies, and items for exhibit enhancements. Most donations are tax deductible!
Sponsoring an animal
Sponsoring an animal is an amazing opportunity to help a particular animal or type at the zoo. The funds will be used for that particular exhibit. You will also receive a certificate and updates! The sponsorship lasts for a full year and you are able to renew.
Since 1962, Applegate Park Zoo has been home to many rescued and rehabilitated wild animals in need of a safe place to live. Currently, the zoo houses over 75 native California mammals, birds, and reptiles. No longer able to survive independently in their normal habitat, these ambassadors from the wild receive needed care and protection from the zoo. In return, they provide zoo visitors with a glimpse of the wonders of nature.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the zoo! You have the ability to help our zoo with different tasks that need to be done. Some of the duties may include: prepping food, cleaning the exhibits, washing dishes or even assisting in our gift shop. Other duties may include helping us reach out to businesses, taking pictures and videos, working special events or community relations.
Our goal is to ensure that volunteers understand how important they are to us and the animals. There are not many positions available locally that allow anyone to work along side bears, bobcats, monkeys, deer or goats all in the same day.
Some of the volunteer work can consist of a lot of physical activity. While it can be tiring, think of the difference you are making in our community! With your hard work, our visitors are able to walk a safe and clean zoo. They are able to share memories with their loved ones that last a lifetime. You are giving rescue animals the ability to enjoy a life they never had. That is something to be so proud of.
If you are interested in learning more information about becoming a volunteer, you welcome you to come down to the zoo or simply fill out the form below and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
We thank you for your interest in donating to the zoo! Most donations are tax-deductible. With your dedicated time, effort and resources, you allow the zoo to become a memorable experience for future generations. We want to ensure our community has a safe, fun and educational experience that brings them closer to the animals that they love.
We are always looking for ways to improve our exhibits. These animals have been resuced from life threatening situations and we try our best to ensure they live the most comfortable life possible. With your donations and support, you help us make it happen!
Even if you are unable to help through donations, simply visiting the zoo and sharing your experience with family and friends goes a long way. While we understand we are a smaller zoo, we take pride in our zoo. We again thank you for your interest and hope to see you soon!
The donations qualifies you as a sponsor parent to the animal of your choice for a length of one-year and your donation is tax-deductible!
You will receive the following with your sponsorship:

All funds collected for this program are used to improve and maintain the facilities occupied by the animals in our zoo.
The majority of our animals are native to California and some specificially to San Joaquin Valley. Our animals are provided by animal rescue centers and have either been injuried, orphaned or confiscated by authorities.
